From Information to Participation - Challenges for the media
From the 30th of June till the 02nd of July 2014 Deutsche Welle organises in Bonn the Global Media Forum und invites all interessed people to workshops and diskussions about the digitizing of the society.
Meanwhile digitizing is integrated into the big topics of society, economie, science, communication and politics. Thus digital media enable participation of citizens in dovernmantal decisions more than ever, but provide at the same time contact surface for abuse. The Internet became one of the most importsources for information and thus shoundn´t be underestimated as important regulation and participation medium. The Internet offers for everyone the opportunity to express oneself and by this to raise many questions:
What does it mean for the claim of journalism when everyone can publish? How does political opinion form under the digital information overload? How can the Internet be used for more democracy and what difficulties come to us? With these and many other questions, the participants of the Global Media Forum will be faced and discuss up to three days about the future of the information society.
